Import duty & landed-cost calculator

Estimate the delivery-company charge on a non-gift, non-excise parcel. The UK runs below; destination pages cover UK, US, Australian, Canadian, German, Indian. Singapore has a dedicated checkout-vs-import GST tool, while Australia, India, and the U.S. use manual-review checklists where the current form cannot safely determine a numeric total.

Pricing more than one SKU or destination?

BorderTally Pro is for small importers, ecommerce sellers, and sourcing teams who need a CSV landed-cost pass before quoting or ordering. Treat the result as a planning estimate and confirm exact tariff codes before making shipment decisions.

Method

The estimate starts with item price plus shipping and insurance, then checks the destination's low-value parcel rule from the rule file. A destination-specific temporary flat duty can apply below the normal tariff threshold; above it, duty is estimated from the selected category bucket. Import VAT is then calculated on customs value plus duty.

Official-source notes

Rules are tagged with the date they were checked and a link to the official source. We deliberately keep category rates broad until each is verified against the destination's tariff schedule.

FAQ

Will I pay UK import duty on goods worth £135 or less?

For non-gift, non-excise consumer purchases worth £135 or less, Customs Duty is normally not charged by the delivery company. VAT is usually handled at the point of sale.

What does the calculator include?

It estimates the item price, shipping, insurance, simplified customs duty, import VAT, carrier fee, and total landed cost.

Is this a customs classification tool?

No. It uses simplified category buckets. Final charges depend on the exact commodity code, origin, carrier process, and the customs authority's treatment.

Which countries and thresholds are covered?

The UK (£135), Australia (AUD 1,000 low-value border line), Canada, Germany, India, Singapore low-value GST, and the United States are covered. Singapore uses a dedicated decision tool because its S$400 per-item checkout test differs from its S$400 shipment CIF import-relief test. Australia, India, and the U.S. currently use manual-review checklists where the general calculator lacks required facts.
